Search modes
Open Search options above the results to pick a mode; your choice is remembered.
- Auto chooses for you. A single word in a translation’s language is searched online, exact matches first, then words with typos. Arabic words, several words and queries with the operators below are searched exactly. What the online search can’t reach or find, the exact search answers.
- Exact searches the Arabic text and the translations you read, and understands everything on this page. Vowel marks are optional and similar Arabic letters match each other. It works offline too: online, the texts it needs are downloaded on the first search and kept.
- Fuzzy searches online in many translations and finds words even with typos. It takes plain words only: a query with operators is searched exactly.
- Transliteration searches Arabic words typed in Latin or Cyrillic letters, even when the same spelling is found in a translation. For example,
kitabis searched astr:kitab. Arabic words, explicit fields, quoted phrases and wildcard expressions keep their usual meaning. Arabic suggestions are shown regardless of the number of results.

Arabic spelling
- Vowel marks are optional: type them only to narrow the search. finds مُخْلِصِين (sincere), not مُخْلَصِين (chosen).
- Similar letters match each other: the forms of alef (ا أ إ آ ٱ), ة ت ه, ى ي, and hamza on any seat. Letters typed on a Persian keyboard (ک ی) work too. also finds نعمة.
- Any Arabic script will do: the same query finds its words in the Uthmani, Simple and Diyanet texts, whichever you read.

Roots and lemmas come from the Quranic Arabic Corpus; Search by roots on the results page lists them all. When words typed in Latin or Cyrillic letters find little, the results page suggests the Arabic words they may stand for.

Short forms: s: for surah:, j: for juz:, p: for page:, r: for root:. A reference alone, like 2:255, opens that ayah. What juz, hizb and manzil are is explained in Signs and Notations.

Translations
- Capital letters, accents and apostrophes don’t matter.
- A word is found inside longer words too: also finds many, human and command. In quotes, finds the whole word only.
- finds patient, patience, patiently.
- finds ayahs about Moses that don’t mention Pharaoh.
- finds the phrase.
Limits
A query takes up to 256 characters and 32 words, and a word up to four *.
